Abstract :
The main objectives of this study were to screen the antioxidant activity, qualitative phytochemical analysis and LC-MS/MS analyses of aqueous extract material of Bauhinia racemosa Lam. plant leaves. The extract material afforded the rich content of various phytochemicals reported in qualitative phytochemical analysis, LC-MS/MS spectral analysis of the leaves extract material and antioxidant activity as a pharmacological activity. The extracted material was subjected to screen their antioxidant activity using DPPH in vitro system. Using DPPH (2, 2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging assay, the aqueous extract material was found to have significant antioxidant activity with an IC50 value 44.18 ± 0.02 ?g/mL. A qualitative phytochemical analysis shows that the plant leaves material contains carbohydrate, protein, amino acids, tannins, saponin, flavonoids and phenolic compounds. It is concluded that the aqueous extract material of Bauhinia racemosa Lam. leaves have been significant antioxidant potential. Further study of extract material is needs to isolate and characterizes the bioactive antioxidants, which may serve as a potential source of natural bioactive antioxidants.
