Abstract :
The study set out to analyze the user acceptance of the e-ticketing system of Lagos Bus Franchise Scheme (BFS). It examined the relationship between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and consumer intention towards the use of e-ticketing systems. The study adopted the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and systematic sampling method to carry out the research. Questionnaires were used as the instrument for data collection. The research hypotheses were tested with Chi-square test statistic. The findings of this study revealed that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were antecedents to consumer’s intention to use e-ticketing systems. Third statement “I would find the BFS e-ticketing system useful in making bus fare payments” shows that 122 (60.4 %) of respondents agreed with this statement. The study concludes there is need to promote the scheme to develop e-ticketing systems that are easy to use, functional and reliable in order to elicit belief in the system on the part of the user. The paper therefore suggests that, efforts should be made to increase the level of awareness about the use of e-ticketing system as a better way of making bus fare payment within the Bus Franchise Scheme.
