Abstract
Every country`s economic growth and development depends heavily on the tourism industry. Haryana is a unique state in India that draws visitors from all over the world. In order to support the expansion of the state`s tourism industry, the Haryana government designated tourism as an industry in 2016. The aim of the current study is to determine how much Haryana`s tourism sector has contributed to job creation since receiving industry status. The present study is undertaken to study the growth and development in the tourism industry of state during the period of 2000-2018. The study is descriptive in nature and official data has been used. As per the findings, the state`s employment opportunities have increased as a result of tourism industry, but more remains to be done to increase the number of visitors if the state is to experience sustained growth in terms of revenues and employment opportunities.
