Abstract :
In this paper, we conducted a social survey focused on carbon emission reduction against climate change in Beijing, China, and employed the dichotomy questionnaire based on Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) to explore the applicability of the contingent valuation on estimating maximum willingness to pay(WTP) of climate change in China. The results show that the questionnaire based on single boundary(SB) and the questionnaire based on double-boundary(DB), which estimates the average maximum willingness to pay is 213 yuan and 237 yuan per year, respectively, besides, the 95% confidence intervals for the average maximum willingness to pay are estimated to be 157 ~ 322 yuan and 169 ~ 312 per year, respectively. Compared with the single-boundary, the double-boundary method can bring more information about the respondents` willingness to pay, thereby reducing the estimated confidence interval and improving the estimation accuracy of the maximum willingness to pay (WTP).
