Abstract :
This paper focuses on the social and economic implications of covid-19 with a vision to identify two things: establishing the social effects of Covid-19 on people in society and examining the economic effects of Covid-19 on people in society. To answer these questions, the present research adopts a mixed-method approach, the questionnaire as a data collection tool for quantitative data gathering and the semi-structured interview for qualitative data collection. The findings of the study demonstrate that the pandemic covid19 has not only negative social effects on people in society, but also positive rethinking of people’s culture. The negative economic effects on people in society were also remarkable. Last but not least, the findings also show that the pandemic covid19 resulted in changing people’s social behaviors and limiting their practices into a set of governed activities. The pandemic has also had far-reaching consequences since it causes people to rethink their practices though economically affected by the lockdown. Thus, the spread of COVID-19 through non-pharmaceutical interventions and preventive measures such as social-distancing and self-isolation have prompted the widespread of social effects of covid19.
