Abstract :
The target to double farmers` income by 2022 will remain ambitious unless we diversify the nature of employment and find some new opportunities to generate income. The food processing industry provides an excellent avenue to fulfil the above mentioned purpose. Through organising FPOs in Prayagraj district and associating them with the food processing industry, we can channelize the farmers` efforts to a better platform, raising their income to a higher level. The purpose of the study is to analyse the employment opportunities found in the dried snacks and spices manufacturing industry and to suggest the importance of FPOs in improving the income of the farmers.
