Abstract :
The Successful exploration activities in Chadian and Nigerien sector of Chad basin has led to increase in exploration in Nigerian sector (Bornu Basin). Utilizing 3D seismic data, Seismic attribute analysis was done with the purpose of identifying viable reservoir zones in the Bornu basin. Relative Acoustic Impedance volume was realized for better visualization of stratigraphic trend. Interpretation revealed several kinds of faults ranging from deep-lying mega faults, which extends down to the basement to some micro faults, which do not extend to the basement. The fault network could serve as structural trap or pathway for hydrocarbon migration. Sweetness attribute survey revealed zones of high quality reservoir in the study area. Four-reservoir horizon named H11, H12, H13 and H14 was interpreted and RMS amplitude survey generated for each of the reservoir horizon reveals high amplitude anomalies across the study area, these distinctive high amplitude reflection anomalies (Bright Spots) are correlated to the presence of hydrocarbon. The result of the seismic attribute analysis in Bornu basin identified some structural features and reservoir horizons that directly predict the presence of hydrocarbon in the basin.
