Abstract :
The Bornu Basin, extending into Chad Republic, Cameroon, and Niger Republic, is a basin formed through the mechanical separation of the African crustal plate during the Cretaceous period. The study area encompasses Latitude 11.750 N to 13.000 N and Longitude 12.000 E to 14.000 E. Structural analysis of the Bornu Basin utilized coherence and curvature attributes to examine the technique offering the best structural resolution and to understand the various structural styles present in the basin. The integration of 3-D seismic data and well data was employed for this purpose. The findings indicate that while the coherence attribute and the curvature attribute display similar comparisons in terms of frequency and gradient readings, the coherence attribute provides higher resolution when examining smaller structures. This demonstrates its superior effectiveness in visualizing structural trends within the basin. Additionally, the results revealed the presence of several types of faults, ranging from deep-lying mega faults that extend down to the basement, to micro faults that do not reach the basement. These faults can serve as both hydrocarbon seals and potential pathways for hydrocarbon migration.
