Abstract :
In this paper a design of single layered compact and broadband monopole triangular microstrip patch antenna utilizing shorting pin has been proposed. It has been theoretically and practically investigated that defecting ground plane leads to bandwidth enhancement and shorting pin lowers the resonant frequency which results size reduction. Using only defected ground plane the bandwidth has been achieved 47.6% and using shorting pin the size of the antenna is reduced by 89% compared to reference patch, with dual band and enhanced bandwidth of 46%.
