Abstract :
Expectancy theory links behaviour of an individual and the belief in the outcome and is based on three core variables such as; expectancy, instrumentality, and valance. As per the study carried out divorce rate is witnessing 50-60% rise in urban areas. The proposed research work has the aim of relating the aspirations of a bride and selection of a groom based on expectancy theory. Review of literature indicates that the aspect of expectancy theory in the field of social life has been not been introduced. Experimental research methodology is adapted to identify a relationship. Such a correlation has not been attempted realistically; therefore an attempt to this effect is being made through this research work. The findings will give an insight on to the relevance of practicable methods to deal with anxiety driven social life of a girl of marriageable age.
