  Abstract
  Nonclassicality of optical fields are the key resources in quantum information processing. Recently, Agarwal [New J. Phys., 13, 073008(2011)] proposed a method for engineering of a two-mode vortex state, a non-Gaussian state, by subtracting a photon from a two-mode squeezed state produced by down-converter from idler mode via a beam splitter with low reflectivity and detection of one photon by the avalanche photo diode (APD), or even better by a single-photon detector. We study the nonclassicalities of this state in terms of squeezing, antibunching, photon number correlation and distribution of photon number. In addition, we study higher-order nonclassical properties, viz., sum squeezing. We find that the non-Gaussian state shows strong nonclassical effects.

  Abstract
  Few copper (II) complexes of the ligands L1 = [(p-methyl anilino) -p- methoxy phenyl acetonitrile] and ligands L2 =[ (p-methoxy anilino) -p- methoxy phenyl acetonitrile] have been synthesized . The ligand has been prepared by Strecker`s method which included the reaction of p-methoxy benzaldehyde with p-toludine and p-anisidine respectively. The ligands L1, L2 act as the primary ligand and nitrate act as a secondary ligand. The data obtained has been preceding using XRD data analysis program Origin 6.0 Professional and XANES by Athena. From the experimental measurements, various parameters- lattice parameter, particle size, chemical shift, edge width, ENC, Percentage covalency have been estimated. Particle size and chemical shift are found to be in the range of nanometers 0.7 to 0.5 and 5 - 10 eV respectively. The XRD analysis revealed the crystalline nature of the complexes and XANES shows the ionic nature of the sample prepared.

  Abstract
  The present work aimed to study the energy dependence of Kα/Kβ X-ray transition-probability ratios for the elements Fe, Cu, Se, Ag and Lα/Lβ, Lα/Lγ and Lα/Lι X-ray transition-probability ratios for the elements Ag, Pb and Bi. It has been measured by proton bombardment in the energy range of 1.5 to 3.0 MeV. Our results provide constant transition- probability ratios for K shell X-ray with varying proton energies, while for L X-ray, transition probability ratios show variation with incident proton energy. X-ray transition probability has been compared with the theoretical ratios, calculated by relativistic Hartee-Slater theory and using sub-shell direct ionization cross-sections.

  Abstract
  Optical communication is a prominent technology for future communication sector because of its low power consumption, high capacity and lower attenuation. It is also affected by the detrimental effects of optical fiber such as dispersion and nonlinear effects. In this paper, the impact of Carrier Suppressed Return to Zero (CSRZ) and Duobinary modulation formats on unfavorable nonlinear Self phase modulation effect of fibers has been analyzed. Modulation formats can have also significant influence on nonlinear effect due to its spectral characteristics. The performance characteristics of this system such as BER and Q-factor are measured with the help of optisystem software. Duobinary gives Q-factor of about 5.57276 and BER of 9.68E-09 even in the case of 40 Gbps bit rate and power 20dBm, whereas CSRZ has the Q-factor of 4.12739 and BER of 1.46E-05 respectively.

  Abstract
  L-alanine requires more insight in terms of the optoelectronic properties as the organic devices. For that an electronic structure of the L-alanine using the density of state (DOS) and band structure have been calculated by the density functional theory (DFT) using the plane wave method. The unit cell crystal, single molecule and hydrogen bonding approach were investigated first in this work using GGA-PAW. The molecular orbitals were also examined using BL3YP functional for the hydrogen bonding between the amine and the carboxylic groups and found the bandgap energy comparable to the GGA-PAW case. The indirect band gap was obtained in the band-structure calculation. The effect of three linear molecules in x, y and z direction in a crystal was investigated and the significant variations found in DOS in all three cases of L-alanine. The present study predicted the longer length wire or tube structures are most useful as the outcome to make the good organic optoelectronic material.

  Abstract
  X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) at the K-edge of copper has been studied in some cobalt (II) mixed ligand complexes having Schiff base and 3 hydroxy Picolinamide ligands. The study can be used to yield useful and important information about the molecular structure of the complexes. The X-ray absorption measurements have been performed at BL-8 Dispersive EXAFS beamline at 2⋅5 GeV Indus-2 Synchrotron Source at RRCAT, Indore, India. The data obtained has been processed using EXAFS data analysis program Athena. From the experimental measurements, the energies of the K absorption edge, chemical shifts, edge-widths, shifts of the principal absorption maximum in the complexes have been estimated. The data obtained from these studies have been utilized to estimate effective nuclear charge and percentage covalency.

  Abstract
  Undoped and Cu2+ doped (SnO2)1-x(ZnO)x nanocomposites were synthesized using a simple microwave assisted solvothermal method with ethylene glycol as solvent. The as-prepared samples were calcinated at 500 0C for 1hr. The optical studies were carried out using Photoluminescence measurements. A small shift in the peak position was observed for doped samples when compared to undoped samples. The shifting was due to the incorporation of dopant into the host matrix and also coupled with the variation of band gap energies of the nanocomposites. The results obtained were reported and discussed herewith.

  Abstract
  Single crystals of strontium chloride added with Nicotinic acid were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals are characterized by using single crystal XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, optical transmission, mechanical and photoluminescence spectral studies. As a result Single crystal XRD studies exposed that the crystal belongs to tetragonal system. The FTIR studies help to identify the functional groups which are present in the crystals. The optical transmission analysis shows that the crystal is transparent in the entire visible region. The cut off wavelength is 275nm. The sample is also subjected to photoluminescence analysis. Hardness was measured by the Vickers’s hardness tester. The diamagnetic behavior of the grown crystal is confirmed by vibrating sample magnetometer.

  Abstract
  The measurement of dielectric constant and emissivity for forest soil samples at 9.6GHz microwave frequency by using waveguide cell method. The values of emissivity of soil samples are measured by using respective dielectric constant. The estimations of emissivity are made with incidence angles from 00 to 900for vertical polarization. The result shows that the emissivity of soil depends on microwave frequency in x-band region and angle of incidence. Also the change in emissivity for vertical polarization occurs at higher angles of incidence and at change over angle the emissivity reaches to unity.

  Abstract
  Zinc Magnesium Sulphate single crystal has been grown from an organic solution by slow evaporation method at room temperature. Good quality transparent crystals were harvested within 25 days. FT Raman analysis confirms the vibrational modes of the compound crystal and the presence of expected functional groups. These crystals were subjected to TG-DSC analysis and its thermal stability was determined. Dielectric studies show the dielectric behavior of the title compound crystal.
