  Gender Differences in Possession of Land and Livestock in Rural Sikkim: A Brief Overview

  The present study analyses the gender differences in possession of land and livestock in rural Sikkim: a brief overview. A comprehensive survey was undertaken by using multi stage random sampling method to collect data from four different villages in Sikkim viz. Upper Legship village from Rabong block, South district comprising of 46 households; Bop village from Chungthang block, North district containing 25 households; Nazitam village from Martam block, East district constituting of 79 households and Lagay village from Gyalshing block, West district comprising of 62 households. It is found that in the study area, 82 percent of the land is registered in favour of men, 12 percent in favour of women and 6 percent in favour of both (joint registration). Regarding ownership position of the livestock in the study area, it is found that except in case of pig and poultry, the ownership favours the male counterparts which reveal gender differences in possession of land and livestock in rural Sikkim. Hence, it is significant to study “Gender Differences in Possession of Land and Livestock in Rural Sikkim”.

  The Role of Moral Judgment in Mitigating Examination Anxiety among Students in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Delta State, Nigeria

  Abstract
  The study investigated the role of moral judgment in mitigating examination anxiety among students in public senior secondary school II in Delta State. The design of this study is ex post facto and correlational research. The population comprised 40,522 students from public secondary schools in Delta State, Nigeria. Data for the study were obtained using the Moral Judgment Scale and the Examination Anxiety Scale. The reliability of the instruments showed Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.61 for the moral judgment scale and 0.71 examination anxiety scale. Descriptive Statistics Correlation, and regression were employed. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that moral judgment traits such as: honesty, integrity, and responsibility could not significantly predict examination anxiety. However, impression management and authority significantly correlated with examination anxiety. The study concludes that moral impressions and the sense of moral authority have clear impacts with examination anxiety, with the moral impression increasing and the moral authority decreasing examination anxiety.

  Role of Health Actors in Prevention and Response against Child Sexual Abuse in Primary Schools in Zanzibar, Tanzania

  The paper is based on a study conducted in three villages in the North ‘’A’’ District: Mkokotoni, Pwani Mchangani, and Matemwe, Zanzibar. It explored the role of health actors in dealing with child sexual abuse (CSA) in primary schools. A case study research design collected data from participants, including teachers, health workers, students, parents, and community leaders. The study employed a mixed methods approach using a sample size of 84 respondents involving 49 females and 35 males of different age groups. Sampling was done using convenience and purposive methods to select participants. Data collection applied semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. The qualitative data were subjected to thematic analysis with NVivo software and narration, while descriptive statistics was employed to analyse the quantitatively collected data. The findings revealed that health actors were implementing preventive, mitigative and response measures towards child sexual abuse in the study area. However, few interventions were done regarding collaboration and cooperation in dealing with CSA among health actors. Education provision is given the most importance of all interventions to the affected and infected community. The study recommends that the implementation of comprehensive interventions that link all actors, including families, schools, health workers, and community leaders, collaboratively and cooperatively are required to prevent and mitigate CSA among health actors in the study area.

  Abstract
  Anthropogenic noise is a pervasive feature of urban environments, posing significant challenges to avian populations by interfering with communication, foraging, and reproductive behaviors. This study examines the impact of noise pollution on bird abundance, species diversity, and behavior across different urban land-use types in Makurdi, Nigeria. Using point count surveys and noise measurements, 30 locations within commercial centers, residential areas, and urban parks were analyzed. Results revealed a strong negative correlation between noise levels and bird abundance, with the highest noise levels recorded in commercial centers and the lowest in urban parks. Bird behavior was notably disrupted in high-noise areas, with reduced feeding, vocalization, and social interaction. The findings highlight the critical need for integrating noise mitigation strategies into urban planning to conserve bird populations in rapidly urbanizing environments.

  Efficient Heavy Metal Removal from Industrial Wastewater Effluent Using Low-cost Clay Pellets: Case Study of 7-UP Bottling Company

  Abstract
  Industrial wastewater often contains toxic heavy metals, posing environmental and health risks. This study investigates the efficacy of low-cost clay pellets in removing heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Cd, Zn) from industrial wastewater. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of pH, and temperature. The Clay soil samples collected from “Imiegba” In Etsako East local Government area of Edo State, Benin City, Nigeria were analyzed for their geochemical composition, mineralogical and geotechnical characteristics, x-ray diffraction analysis and index property tests were used to determine the elemental composition, mineralogical nature and geotechnical attributes of the clay. The XRD reveals that quartz (SiO2) is the most abundant with an average mean of 48.10% and ranged between 42.83 and 55.78%. Mineralogical analyses reveal kaolinite as the dominant clay mineral with quartz as the dominant non-clay mineral. The geotechnical index test showed that the studied clay particle size distribution is fine-grained with a percentage fine fraction of 99%. The grounded clay samples were later mixed with addictive (laterite and limestone) and fired into clay ball pellets. The concentration of some heavy metals, Mn, Cu, Mg, Fe, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr and Ni, were collected from the discharge outlet pipe of “7-UP Bottling Company in Edo State Benin City”. Samples were analyzed as composite samples and the concentrations of these heavy metals in the effluent were 6.68 mg/l, for Fe, 5.65 mg/l for Zn, 2.23 mg/l for Mn, 2.87 mg/l for Cu, 6.65 for Ni, 1.49 for Cd, 4.53 mg/l for Cr, 1.55 mg/l for Pb. From the different formulations of clay ball pellets after treatments, the study shows that Imiegba clay has a good performance, and proved effective, eco-friendly and economical as an adsorbent for industrial wastewater treatment.
