Abstract :
Adaptive Cluster Sampling (ACS) design is a leading sampling design developed for estimating the population parameters of rare, clustered, endangered, hard to reach and challenging population. In this article a modified ratio type estimator for the estimation of population mean has been developed under ACS design. The mathematical equation for approximate mean square error (MSE) has been derived upto first order of approximation and the optimum values (p and q) of the developed estimators have also been obtained. The effectiveness of the developed estimator has been empirically evaluated using the simulated x- and y-values. The results on the basis of percentage relative efficiency indicated that the developed estimator is superior as compared to other known conventional and ACS estimators when there is a positive correlation between study and the auxiliary variable.
